Soya Chaap is a vegetarian delicacy which is high on protein. Traditionally it is prepared from soya chunks and soya beans which is grounded together and mixed with all purpose flour. Later it is rolled into skewers or ice cream sticks and boiled in hot water till it is cooked. It can be either used to prepare gravy or as snack. It is a good substitute to meat protein as well. After making fresh soya chaap sticks at home, its time to make some flavorsome dish out of it. So pamper your taste buds by making this extremely tasty “Stir Fried Soya Chaap” with the help of a detailed recipe.
4 nos soya chaap sticks (250 gms approx)
150 gms pineapple, cut into chunks
100 gms red bell pepper, cut into chunks
2 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
1 tsp dark soy sauce
1 tsp chili flakes
2 tbsp schezwan sauce
1/2 tsp brown sugar
1 tbsp + 1 tbsp Vegetable Oil
2 tbsp + 1 tsp corn flour
Salt to taste
1/2 tsp chopped green onions to garnish
Remove wooden sticks from Soya Chaaps.
Cut soya chaaps into 1 inch long pieces.
Marinate the pieces with Soy Sauce and Chili flakes for 30 minutes in room temperature.
Coat the marinated soya chaap pieces with 2 tbsp corn flour.
Heat 1 tbsp of veg oil in a non-sticky frying pan.
Fry the corn flour coated soya chaap pieces on high flame for 3 minutes and keep aside.
Add and heat remaining oil into the pan. Add garlic slices and stir for 15 seconds.
Add pineapple chunks and bell pepper cubes into the pan. Stir for 1 minute.
Add schezwan sauce and stir well. Add sugar and stir.
Cook for 1 minutes.
Mix remaining 1 tsp corn flour with 1 tbsp water and add this slurry into the pan. Stir and cook for 1 min.
Season with salt. Stir for 1 min.
Stir fried Soya Chaap is ready to serve.
Garnish with chopped green onions.
